Bishmizzine High School was founded in 1937 as a not-for-profit organization with a commitment not to allow poverty to deprive anyone of its benefits.
Its roots, however, trace back even further. A series of educational initiatives began in 1903–1904, and the first school building was erected in 1902, marking the early beginnings of BHS.
By 1947, the school had expanded to include a high school level, and in the same year, the American University of Beirut granted BHS the privilege of recommending its graduates directly to the freshman class without requiring an entrance exam.
For more than thirty years, BHS remained the only high school of its kind in the area, providing an essential educational foundation for generations of students.
It is located in Bishmizzine, in the El-Koura province one of the most literate and culturally rich regions in Lebanon.
Our school, currently serves 1,453 students from different villages in the North District and Mount Lebanon.
In 2025, Bishmizzine High School proudly achieved accredited status by three prestigious educational accreditation authorities:
North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI)
Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC)
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI)
Here’s to more success, new opportunities, and a brighter future ahead!
